FLIGHT is an interactive sculpture created by Collective Magpie in collaboration with Flam Chen as part of the All Souls Procession 2009.

Collective Magpie creates an opportunity to celebrate our souls living and past in the form of FLIGHT. Hundreds of handmade paper, moth-shaped kites* will be released from an enormous illuminated cocoon in the hands of the Flam Chen Pyrotechnic Circus at the All Souls Festival 2009.

In celebration of souls we invite you to dedicate a kite to yourself or another person living or past to fly among the others. Each kite will be marked with a number for recognition**. The event will be documented and posted on the website.

Please feel free to include a letter or any words you would like associated with your kite and we will post them on the website along with your number. The dedication will remain anonymous unless you choose otherwise.

• * each kite is made of Japanese Washi (mulberry, or the food of silk moths) and bamboo.
• ** There is no charge to dedicate a kite and admission to the event is free. The first 400 kite dedications submitted to the web site will be realized in paper, the rest in spirit only. If yours is one of the 400 paper kites, we can arrange to mail the kite after the event is over for the price of shipping and handling only. Please include your email and your address with your dedication if you would like your kite sent to you. We will contact you with shipping charges after the event is over.
